Gino Matteucci

Gino Matteucci, 80, of South Lake Tahoe died March 31, 2010. Matteucci was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Salinas, Calif., to Vosco and Stella Matteucci.

He grew up in San Francisco and married Patricia Leake in 1951. He served in the Korean War, and in 1961, moved his family to South Lake Tahoe.

The highlight of his vocational career was working as a chef at The Top of the Wheel at Harveys, and working under Harvey Gross. He retired at age 65 and spent the last 15 years working part-time driving for the Department of Mental Health and then volunteering for the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center and the Tahoe Douglas Senior Center.

He is preceded in death by his ex-wife Patricia Matteucci and son Jim Matteucci. He is survived by his sons, Gene and Jace Matteucci; daughter, Joni Seran; and six grandchildren.
