Amodei on Colorado River commission

Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons has appointed Republican state Sen. Mark Amodei to the Colorado River Commission.

Amodei is term limited from seeking re-election this fall, and says he will resign his seat before assuming his new role on the commission that manages Nevada's share of Colorado River water and power.

Amodei's appointment was announced Tuesday.

He served in the state Assembly from 1996 to 1998 and in the Senate since 1999.

Amodei represents western Douglas County.
