What's your legacy?

EDITOR:

On April 22 Earth Day turned 40. That's right, we've been celebrating this day devoted to the environment since 1970. However, Nevada farmers and ranchers have been exemplifying the values associated with Earth Day for generations.

As long as cattle have been raised on our family's land, we've worked to protect and enhance our environment.

I'm glad my environmental legacy includes things like wildlife protection and erosion control.

About two-thirds of cattle farms and ranches have been in the same family for two generations or more.

I fully intend to leave the land for my grandchildren in such condition that they will enjoy it as I have throughout my lifetime. I appreciate what the land has done for me, and I am always mindful that if I take care of it, it will take care of me.

What's your environmental legacy?
