Eagles & Ag photo winners

In judging conducted by the members of the organizing committee of the Eighth Annual Eagles & Agriculture event, the photos of Mariusz Blach of Reno and Steve Brown of Incline Village were selected as the winners in the best birding and best wildlife/agriculture categories. More than 27 photographs were entered in this year's contest.

Blach's "Two Eagles on A Branch" captures two mature bald eagles perched in nearly mirror image of each other and Brown's "Eagle in Front of Cows" did the best job of depicting the interplay between wildlife and cattle, judges determined

Each of the winners will receive an award of $125 from the Eagles & Agriculture organization. All of the photos entered appear at www.flickr.com/photos/carsonvalleynevada under the set "Eagles & Ag 2010 Photo Contest."

Eagles and Agriculture gathering in Northern Nevada's Carson Valley takes place in February each year.

The three-day event combines the year's best opportunity to view and photograph bald eagles and other birds of prey, observing live falconing field demonstrations, a two-day wildlife photography workshop, as well as a rare chance to visit some of Carson Valley's working ranches and historic barns.

The dates for the 2011 event will be announced in the coming weeks. Registration information will be available at www.visitcarsonvalley.org by late spring.
