Football: San Francisco 49ers sign veteran DE-LB Travis LaBoy

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran Travis LaBoy to a one-year contract.


LaBoy can play defensive end or outside linebacker. He was a second-round selection (42nd overall) by the Tennessee Titans in the 2004 draft.


In 67 games, with 32 starts, he has 136 tackles, 23 1/2 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one interception. LaBoy had his best season in 2005 with 41 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks.


The 28-year-old LaBoy played four seasons with Tennessee before signing with Arizona in 2008. He was released in March 2009 and missed the entire season recovering from a foot injury.
