Cowboy poets Waddie Mitchell and Don Edwards are performing tonight in Mormon Station as part of the Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival. Tickets are $30. The Douglas County Public Library is recognizing the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express with a lecture at the Lampe Park Pavilion 10 a.m. Saturday and a demonstration in Herbig Park.

The only road control left on the map is on Highway 88 between Carson Pass and Silver Lake, where chains or four-wheel drive are being required.

The weekend's weather looks like it's finally going to cooperate for a little bit. Expect to see the sun today with a high of 58 degrees. It will warm up to 67 degrees by Sunday, before the temperature roller coaster starts its downhill run again on Tuesday.
