Minden man arrested after allegedly running over deputy's foot

A Minden resident was arrested this morning after he ran over a deputy's foot during a traffic stop.

Craig Martin Black, 49, allgedly struck the deputy after he was stopped for a speeding violation on Stephanie Way near Sylvia Lane.

According to Sgt. Jim Halsey, Black was uncooperative with the deputy. The deputy attempted to issue Black a citation, and as he drove away, he turned his vehicle toward the deputy and into his right leg while running over the deputy's foot with his rear wheel.

Although injured, the deputy returned to his patrol car and pursued Black a short distance. Black yielded and was taken into custody at about 11 a.m.

The deputy was treated at Carson Valley Medical Center for an abrasion to his right leg and soft tissue damage to his right foot.

Black was jailed on $25,000 bail on a charge of battery on a peace officer with a deadly weapon.
