There will be a good turnout to the Main Street Show & Shine on Aug. 20-21, according the event's organizer.

"We're getting ready to go crazy," said Bryan McGill. "I had to order extra T-shirts. It's just been 39 days for my son, wife and myself to get this show going. I'm excited it's come together."

Carson City residents Bryan and Nancy McGill of Capital Classic Productions took over producing the annual event after organizer Mike Schiller was injured in a car accident. The McGills have done five car shows in Carson City and Sparks so far this year, and usually stage about 10 cars shows a year.

Bryan McGill said this year's Main Street Event is laying groundwork for the future.

"I've booked the Main Street Show & Shine for next year and the year after," he said. "I don't want to be a one-hit wonder."

The Main Street Event with cars, music, food and vendors is 4-11 p.m. Aug. 20 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21, on Third, Fourth, and Fifth streets and Esmeralda Avenue in downtown Minden.

Friday night's entertainment includes county and classic rock music by Sierra Express, and tri-tip and spaghetti dinners. Saturday's '50s to '70s music is provided by Johnny Star in Minden Park.

New this year are movies - "American Graffiti" and maybe a James Dean movie - in the CVIC Hall during dinner Friday. Vendors will sell toy cars to satellites, and pinstriping can be done on-site.

Car registration is 3-5 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Holiday Inn Express in Minden, then the party will move to downtown Minden for dinner, music and the show and shine in Minden Park.

Car registration may also be made at www.capitalclassicproductions.com or 690-3680.
