Partnership hosts student art contest

The Partnership of Community Resources is sponsoring an art contest to create designs with an anti-drug message. The winning designs may be transformed into posters, window clings, or newspaper inserts to be displayed in the community.

Entrants are to asked to design a decal or window cling for alcohol retailers to display, letting customers know their stores don't sell alcohol to minors.

The second choice is to design posters depicting positive messages about not drinking alcohol, or depicting hobbies or something to do instead of drugs.

First-, second-, and third-place awards given for each project for seventh to ninth-grade students and for 10th to 12th-grade students.

Prizes include Target gift cards, Party in a Basket or movie passes. Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 donated to this contest to help provide prizes.

Original designs must be on 8.5-by-11 inch paper. Include name, grade, school, and contact phone number on the back of the design. Designs are due in school front offices by 3 p.m. March 12. Homeschoolers may submit designs to the Partnership of Community Resources, 1528 Highway 395, Suite 100, Gardnerville.
