103 attend Christmas dinner at St. Gall

EDITOR:

The 11th Annual Noel Christmas Dinner for those without family at St. Gall Church on Christmas Day was a huge success with 103 guests attending.

I would like to thank the many people who worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning to prepare the food, the others who setup tables and chairs and decorated on Christmas Eve and all those who donated special dishes or money for the event.

Guests arrived at 1 p.m. and socialized. All were surprised when our special Santa, James Casler from San Marcos, who is 78 years old, showed up to pass out candy canes and visit with everyone.

A traditional dinner of turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, apple salad, jello salad and rolls was served buffet style around 2 p.m. with a gift exchange and dessert following. After the event many people helped with the clean up and taking down the tables and chairs. Others swept, mopped floors, washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen.

This yearly event could not happen without the help and assistance of many people. I would like to thank the following for their donations of money, food and help. Jeanne Whited, our chef for the event, who will soon open Wild Bean Restaurant and Catering in the new strip mall on Highway 395, Rocky Barth, Ginger Blythe, Susie Biagginni, Jerry Bonus, the Brunners, the Cardinals, Chrissy Chapman, Father John Corona, the Dambergers, Roselyn Didier, Barbara Donley, the Dormans, Ginger Firestone, Charlene Fordham, Leona Fritz, Marge Giovacchini, the Kellenbergers, Arlene Gleich, the Howens, Gerald Hutchinson, the Martins, the Meads, the Morissettes, the Mullins, the Richmonds, Mike Schiller, the Seddons, Jack Stemplinger, the Thompsons, Joan Tindle, the Vadnais, Katy Weber, George Wennhold, Father Paul McCollum, Phil Kerrigan, and the Knights of Columbus.

And a special thanks to Woodett's for the donation of turkeys and to The Record-Courier for the public service announcements in the paper.
