Entitlements

EDITOR:

There is great irony in the student protests against increased fees all around the country.

Fees are being raised because the states are in ever increasing debt. And why are they in debt? Because they refuse to cut spending. And why do they refuse cut spending? Because of entitlements, i.e. the belief that people have a right to the wealth of others in the form of education, healthcare, large governmental pensions not available in the private sector at all, welfare, aid to this and that, etc.

And what's the source of the altruist morality of entitlements? The university and college classrooms. What type of voter comes out to cast their ballot?
