Snowboarding: USASA Boarder X event at Kirkwood

USASA competitors endured blustery weather this weekend at Kirkwood with the first of three Boarder X's of the season. There were more than 80 competitors braving the weather, trying to earn their spot to the national championships.

"Although it was snowing hard at times, the athletes did a phenomenal job," coach Travis Chatwin said. "There was some tough competition out there this weekend and the kids put out 110 percent until the very end."

Joanie Anderson, X Games Boarder X competitor, made the journey to support these athletes and was happy to award medals at the end of the day. Youth Men (14-15) battled until the last race, which ended with Sammy Mason in first, Matthew Jones in second and Michael Kelly in third.
