The Douglas County Public Library in Minden hosts special events for the Make a Splash summer reading program running through Aug. 7. Children explore water through stories, songs, and activities.

Teen Game Day presented by the Friends of the Library and the Dragon Slayers library teen advisory board is 3 p.m. Friday. Play Nintendo Wii and board games, or make a tie-dyed T-shirt at this free event. Pizza and soda served.

Sign up by July 19 for ocean life stories at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Miss Carol reads "Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark." Children sing songs and make a fish-themed craft to take home. Young children should be accompanied by an adult.

Upcoming events include origami with Dennis Little on July 26, and the Make a Splash pirate party Aug. 7.

Story time is 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, at Lampe Park. Stories, music, crafts for children 3 years and older during the farmers market.
