3 Blonde Moms perform in 'Comedy in the Capital'

Ranchos resident and local comedian Kat Simmons brings the nationally touring and acclaimed comedic talent of the 3 Blonde Moms to Carson City on Saturday, Aug. 7.

Feisty comedians Joan Fagan and Donna Cherry will perform at the Carson City Nugget on this special evening. And though she's technically more strawberry blonde than blonde, the hilarious Simmons will be a featured performer in the show as well.

The show is touted as a "top-notch, high-energy, semi-scripted, PG-13 comedy show jam packed full of hysterical material about being a mom, having a mom, kids, schools, husbands, neighbors, in-laws and more. If you have a family, know a family, or want a family, this is the show for you."

Carson City Nugget is located at 507 N. Carson St. Tickets are $25 per person for table seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling (775) 882-1626 ext. 251.

Simmons returns to eWomenNetwork's annual conference

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Kat Simmons returned from last year's eWomenNetwork conference, as winner of their annual talent contest. The win launched Simmons' career into another realm; she's continued to keep busy with a variety of speaking engagements, performances and productions.

This past weekend, she returned for the organization's 10th annual conference, held in Dallas. "The weekend always holds such an amazing spirit of collaboration and support," says Simmons.

Attendees were also in for a surprise; though she wasn't listed on the schedule, Simmons performed an unexpected half hour set on Saturday morning.

"I came out on stage and the audience went crazy," she says. "The surprise factor, along with the energy of all the women who saw me win last year, was great. There were also a lot of new faces. It was big fun."

A highlight of the weekend for Simmons was to sit in on a talk presented by legendary motivational speaker and trainer Zig Ziglar. She also got to hear "breakthrough specialist" Lisa Nichols speak. Nichols was one of the featured teachers in "The Secret," and her message is one of personal empowerment.

The purpose of eWomenNetwork is to "support, promote and showcase our members' products and services and to help them reach their professional goals." The local chapter is located in Reno. For more information, log onto www.ewomennetwork.com.
