Muller Lane is closed this morning as Nevada Department of Transportation workers dig up a culvert that was undermining the road and figure out how to fix it. According to spokesman Scott Magruder their goal is to reopen the road for the weekend, which may call for a couple of steel plates.

East Fork Chief Tod Carlini received a 3 percent merit pay increase and three days of paid administrative leave as a bonus from Douglas County commissioners on Thursday. However, adoption of the Douglas County Emergency Response Plan was delayed again, probably due to the length of the water hearing.

Genoans are scheduled to meet 9 a.m. today to discuss future Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festivals. Town board members may give some direction to staff, but they're not planning any action.

Washoe Tribe and Douglas County authorities responded to a report of human remains north of Silver City RV Park on Thursday afternoon. The find turned out to be some dentures left at a transient camp dating to the late Holocene. There was no sign of the rest of the transient.

Today expect sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s, which is the forecast for the weekend. It's going to be breezy with winds 10-15 mph and gusts of up to 25 mph. The highs are going to climb into the lower 80s next week, creeping up to 84 degrees by Thursday.
