Smith Valley miss heads to national pageant

Brianna Torres earned the title of 2010 National All-American Miss Pre-teen and will represent Nevada in the national pageant at Disneyland in Anaheim during Thanksgiving week.

Brianna, 12, is the daughter of Bill and Alisha Diaz of Smith Valley. She is a home-schooled student who enjoys gymnastics, cheerleading, acting and modeling. Brianna was a state ambassador in the National American 2005 Miss Nevada Princess Pageant.

She will present a hip-hop dance as her talent, and will participate in a photogenic competition and casual wear modeling at the pageant.

The National American Miss Pageants are for girls ages 4 to 18 in five age divisions. The program is based on poise and presentation, with emphasis on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, and achieving personal goals.
