Minden resident U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Nicholas Fleischmann graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, on Aug. 13.
Fleischmann completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. He is currently at Shepperd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, attending a 12-week technical school to become a munitions specialist. Upon graduation, he will receive orders to his first duty station.
By completing basic training, Fleischmann has earned four credits toward an associates degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Steve and Julie Fleischmann of Minden. He was home-schooled, and graduated from American High School in June 2009.
