Woman arrested on suspicion of drunk driving

A 45-year-old Gardnerville woman was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Monday night with an alleged blood-alcohol content of .155, nearly twice the legal limit.

Sherese Settelmeyer is to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Oct. 11.

She is the wife of Assemblyman James Settelmeyer, a candidate for the Capital Senate District.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a trooper observed a white Jeep without a license plate light traveling southbound on Highway 395 at Highway 50 West about 8:30 p.m.

The trooper followed the vehicle into Douglas County and he said the driver had trouble maintaining the center of the travel lane, drifting left and right, and finally crossing into the left lane.

He said the vehicle was traveling 70 mph in a 65-mph zone and he initiated a traffic stop.

The trooper said the driver, identified as Settelmeyer, had an odor of alcohol and bloodshot and watery eyes. He said she claimed to have had one drink.

Settelmeyer reportedly told the trooper she had an injured left shoulder and left leg and was on medication. She was unable to complete a field sobriety test, according to reports.

The trooper said Settelmeyer completed a preliminary breath test at .155, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 for driving.

She requested a blood draw which was completed at Douglas County Jail where she was booked and released on $1,731 bail.
