City Manager Larry Werner resigning, effective Dec. 19

Larry Werner, Carson City’s city manager, announced his resignation this morning.

In a letter to Mayor Robert Crowell, Werner writes that his contract requires him to provide 60 days’ notice. His resignation takes effect Dec. 19.

“For me, this has been a wonderful experience and I would not have traded it for anything,” he wrote. “Although I do feel some regret in making this decision at this time, I have no concerns about the management of the City because you have the best staff, department directors and elected officials that I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with.”

Deputy City Manager Marena Works said she hasn’t decided whether to apply for the job.
