SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: Time to give Mom a break

Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels is a weekly feature in the Appeal’s Opinion pages in which the Appeal gives Silver Dollars to those who deserve recognition and occasionally a Wooden Nickel to those who deserve criticism.

SILVER DOLLAR: Every day, of course, should be Mother’s Day, but on Sunday at least for one day, we hope all of you mothers will be pampered and get the break you well deserve.

SILVER DOLLAR: To the Carson City Boxing Club, 3597 Highway 50 East, suite 219, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an open house featuring food trucks, live sparring and raffle prizes free to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High agriculture science teacher Charles Mann, who was chosen as one of five teachers to be featured as a national spotlight teacher by the National Association of Agriculture Educators.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Muscle Powered for providing bicycling activities throughout the month during National Bike Month and for its effort to make Carson City a more walkable and bikeable community all year-round.
