South Tahoe man killed in Tuesday's Highway 50 head-on

A South Lake Tahoe man has been identified as the person who was killed in a head-on collision that closed Highway 50 for several hours on Tuesday.

Peter Dykeman, 34 was driving a 2003 Honda Element west on Highway 50 at about 6:25 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

According to the preliminary investigation a black 2011 Dodge Ram was eastbound on 50 when the driver allowed it to cross the double yellow line striking the Element and killing Dykeman.

The crash shut down Highway 50 for five hours.

The name of the Dodge’s driver has not been released.

The crash is being investigated by the NHP’s Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team.
