Genoa, Nev. — Anyone interested in participating in the Dec. 4 Parade of Lights has two weeks to sign up. The 25th annual parade is a culmination of a three-day celebration of the arrival of the holidays, including fireworks in Gardnerville on Dec. 2 and events in Minden and Genoa on Dec. 3. Applications are available at carsonvalleynv.org/parade-of-lights. The deadline is Nov. 26.

Young at Heart Senior Citizen’s Club’s craft fair starts 5-8 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center and continues 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. I hear there are more than 100 vendors with all kinds of crafts.

The old CVIC Hall will be hopping tonight with the eclectic sounds of Barrio Manouche 7-9:30 p.m. Tickets at the door are $24 for the concert sponsored by the Carson Valley Arts Council. For information, visit www.cvartscouncil.com

A special session of the Legislature is scheduled to be called 1 p.m. today in Carson City to discuss redistricting. It’s likely to be short and challenged in court, since the governor called it on a holiday and didn’t provide the three-day notice typical before calling a session.

Erosion damage at Markleeville Bridge will have Highway 89 down to one lane 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, according to CalTrans. Further up the road, Monitor Pass reopened on Thursday. We’ll see how long that lasts. Ebbetts, Sonora and Tioga passes remain closed for ice and snow.

The California Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal collision on Highway 395 south of Mono Lake that was reported near 5 a.m. From the logs it sounds like a rollover that has closed the southbound lanes. Be careful if you’re driving that way this morning.

Today’s forecast is fairly terse at “Sunny, with a high near 69. Calm wind.” That will be par for the course through Monday, so enjoy. It’s supposed to cool off some on Tuesday. The fog is back down by the river this morning.
