Pony Express, bicycle tour may cross paths at Tahoe today

The Journey of Hope bicycle tour should cross paths with the Pony Express Re-ride at Lake Tahoe today.

The Pony Express is expected to arrive in South Lake Tahoe at 5 p.m., while the bicycle tour conducted by the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity is scheduled to travel from Jackson, Calif. to South Lake Tahoe today.

The re-rider is scheduled to arrive in Carson City at 12:30 p.m. on its way to Sacramento.

The bicyclists are scheduled to take a day at the Lake on Thursday before riding down to Carson City.

On Friday, Western Nevada College and the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities is presenting a friendship party hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.

The fraternity’s cyclists cross the country to raise awareness and donations for people with disabilities, according to their web site.

Community members are invited to attend Journey of Hope 5-7 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club located at 1870 Russell Way in Carson City.

Free food, raffle prizes, music and dancing, activities for children are planned, as well as resources and information to assist those with disabilities or loved ones with disabilities.
