Genoa, Nev. — Sierra Nevada Construction begins work to rebuild Airport Road today between Heybourne and the Airport parking lot. Airport access will remain open, but there might be some delays through the end of June.

Early voting continues at the Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville today. If you’re voting in person, bring your mailed ballot with you and the election clerks will destroy it.

You can also drop off the mailed ballots at either the historic courthouse in Minden or the Community Center and save the county the price of postage.

The second T-bone type collision in six days snarled Highway 395 and Riverview south of Gardnerville 6 p.m. Monday. Of the four people who reported injuries, only one opted for an ambulance ride. There was a heart attack in Minden right around the same time, so there were a lot of sirens going back and forth.

This is the last week we’ll be sharing the road with school buses for a while. School lets out on Thursday for the summer. Graduations are scheduled for the end of the week.

Our forecast Memorial Day weekend cold snap didn’t end up being all that cold or windy, really, but it was nice. A warming trend will bring temperatures into the 80s this week before we get another little dip.

Expect sunny skies with a high temperature of 72 today, with the wind out of the north 5-10 mph shifting east later this morning.
