Genoa, Nev. — Tuesday’s school board candidates debates is online at https://www.recordcourier.com/news/2022/oct/11/town-hall-debate-tonight-gardnerville/We’ll keep it on the front page of the next couple of weeks to make sure people have an opportunity to view it.


I got my ballot in the mail on Tuesday, as expected. Those should be arriving over the next few days across the county. I would suggest that if you haven’t seen one pretty soon, it wouldn’t hurt to check your registration at govotedouglas.com or contact the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office at elections@douglasnv.us


A drive-through flu shot clinic is 9 a.m. to noon today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. The clinic is being conducted by Douglas County Community Health. They’ll be in Topaz Ranch Estates 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 and Indian Hills 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19.


There was a 3.48 earthquake due east of Walker near Wildhorse Mountain around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. It’s part of a swarm through there. Walker is of course part of the Walker Lane, which is believed to be the eventual geological successor to the San Andreas Fault. Only deep time will tell.


The lunchtime crash on Tuesday was closer to 1 p.m. at Highway 395 and Charlotte. No report of injuries, but that intersection is quickly becoming a popular spot for collisions.


Both East Fork and Tahoe Douglas have sent firefighters to a fire in Washington. According to this morning’s situation report Cedar Creek near Oakridge, Ore., is at 122,463 acres this morning and won’t be contained until after Thanksgiving.


The only news in the weather is that there really isn’t any. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature around 79 degrees, with a light breeze out of the north at 5 mph. Tonight’s low is forecast to be 39 degrees.
