Genoa, Nev. — A 26-year-old Minden man was arrested on charges of misdemeanor driving under the influence and without due care after a Thursday morning collision in Genoa. The vehicle could be heard speeding down Jacks Valley Road just before the 6:20 a.m. crash.

The river gauge at Horseshoe Bend on the East Fork keeps showing an odd 6-inch break between the actual and forecast levels. It was running at 12.43 feet at 6 a.m. and was forecast to be at 13 feet.

It’s Arbor Day today so I’ll be out and about watching people plant trees. Alpine County will be planting 1,000 seedlings from noon to 3 p.m. today. Genoans are planting a blue spruce in Genoa Park at 10 a.m. and Gardnerville will be planting two London plane (not a typo) trees in Gardner Park around 3:30 p.m.

The Genoa Western Heritage Days schedule shows tickets are still available for the concerts 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday in the Genoa Town Hall. The Photo Club show is 3-7 p.m. today in Whit Hall on the River Fork Ranch. You can find out more at www.genoanevada.org.

“Rhythm and Rhyme, a night of the Music of Burt Bacharach” opens 7:30 p.m. today at the Copeland Annex. Presented by Carson Valley Community Theatre, you can find out more at www.carsonvalleycommunitytheatre.org

The forecast has softened a tad on the high temperatures with 82 degrees forecast for today and 83 degrees on Saturday. The sun will definitely be about through the weekend, though expect cooler conditions on Sunday before the next storm drops by next week.
