Genoa, Nev. — NV Energy is proposing moving its Buckeye substation over to a 20-acre parcel near Stockyard and East Valley Road. The proposal is the subject of a tentative parcel map before the Administrative Hearing Panel 2 p.m. today at the Minden Inn.

Main Street Gardnerville is hosting an ice scream social at DST Coffee’s patio to do some volunteer outreach 5:30-7 p.m. today. The shop is located at 1511 Main St., in Gardnerville.

It has been 43 years since the 1980 bombing of Harvey’s Wagon Wheel in Stateline, which will be author and historian David Woodruff’s topic at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 6:30 p.m. today in Gardnerville. Admission is $5 at the doors, which open at 6 p.m.

Over in Minden at the same time, Carolyn Dolan & Big Red will play rockin’ blues with Mick Clarke 6:30 p.m. at the Dangberg Historic Home Ranch. There’s lot’s going on at the ranch, so visit www.dangberg.org for more info.

There’s a possibility of some thunderstorms around Mono and Mineral counties this afternoon. We could see thunderstorms here on Friday night and continuing through the weekend.

Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature around 88 degrees. The west wind will pick up to 5-10 mph this afternoon, increasing to 10-15 mph this evening, gusting to 25 mph.
