Genoa, Nev. — Republicans conduct caucuses and precinct meetings 5-7:30 p.m. today across Douglas County. Those participating must go to the location for their precinct and show a photo ID. Pile burning by the U.S. Forest Service above Genoa prompted a fire call this morning from a resident along Candy Dance Lane. East Fork firefighters responded at 6:20 a.m. Battalion chief reported it was within regs.

It snowed on Wednesday, sort of, with Heavenly reporting this morning that 2 inches of snow fell over the past 24 hours. NVroads.com reports chain controls are in effect over Kingsbury, Spooner and through the Pine Nuts.

The Carson Valley Community Food Closet is hosting an open house 3-6 p.m. today at 1251 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. 


Historian and author David Woodruff will be doing a Chautauqua of George Whittell at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 6:30 p.m. today.

There is a slight chance of snow showers 1-7 p.m. today, but otherwise the forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high near 39 degrees, with the wind out of the north at 5 mph this afternoon.
