Douglas High School softball advanced into the second round of the Class 5A North regional playoffs Wednesday behind a 15-0 win in three innings over No. 8 Reno.

The top-seeded Tigers will be back in action tomorrow (Thursday) against No. 4 Reed, which will start at 4 p.m.

Reed bested No. 5 Galena, 2-0, in its opening round contest.

TIGERS ROLL

Douglas had run-ruled Reno twice in the regular season and Wednesday's postseason opener wasn't any different.

The Tigers scored four runs in the first, nine in the second and plated the final two runs to reach the run-rule in the third.

Talia Tretton, Lilyann Lee, Zora Simpson and Mercedes Covey all recorded multi-hit performances.

In 21 total at-bats, the Tigers recorded 15 hits.

Cam McLelland, Maddie Gooch, Covey and Lee knocked in two RBIs apiece. Ava Delaney, Peyton Simpson and McLelland all doubled for Douglas.

Gooch blasted a two-run home run to center field in the second inning, giving Douglas an 11-0 lead.

In the circle, Tretton faced 10 hitters and struck out eight of them. She did not allow a hit and walked one batter.

Douglas and Reed met three times in the regular season with the Tigers winning all three contests by finals of 11-1, 7-1 and 2-1.
