Genoa, Nev. — The Douglas County Historical Society is hosting a presentation on the historic barns of Douglas and Alpine County 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Main St., Gardnerville. The doors open 6 p.m. Cost $5.  Information, 775-782-2555.

It was food-truck palooza at Wind Down Wednesday, I’m told. The event opened outdoor season with the Just a Drop Farmers Market opening on May 15, followed by the first Thirsty Thursday Wine Walk. According to Minden, the Esmeralda Farmers Market has been delayed until May 21.

Lake Tahoe is forecast to fill up for the first time since June 2019, according to the Nevada Water Supply Outlook report issued on Wednesday. The dam at Tahoe City allows 6 feet of storage in the Lake or 744,500 acre feet, enough to meet water demands for three years even with lackluster snowpacks.

The snow-water equivalent at Ebbetts pass is at 104 percent of median as of today. Carson Pass was well above median for May 8. Last weekend’s snow up top and cool temperatures bode well for this irrigation season.

Spring will be returning with temperatures warming up over the next few days. Today is forecast to see a high of 67 degrees under sunny skies. The northeast wind will pick up to 10-15 mph late this morning.
