Guess what's going to happen this Friday?
It's the 24th edition of the Big Mack Feed fund raiser.
It is always held on the first Friday afternoon in August. This year it's Aug. 3.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. and last until it's too dark to see.
If you go, it will cost you $12 to attend (prepaid) or $15 at the gate.
The Big Mack Feed will be held outside of the clubhouse of the Tahoe City Golf Course. That golf course is located on the northwest side of Lake Tahoe at Tahoe City, Calif. Tahoe City is about a 50 mile drive from Carson City, one-way, via a combination of U.S. 395 to Spooner Summit and then Nevada S.R. 28 and California S.R. 28, around the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
This unusual, annual fund raiser consists of the unbeatable combination of a beautiful location, very tasty, barbecued Tri-Tip steaks, an awesome wild game stew with all the trimmings, a large number of great raffle prizes and about 500-600 attendees (men, women and children).
The Big Mack Feed is a special fund raiser that generates funds for worthwhile causes in the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee area. Through the past years, those recipients have included the North Lake Tahoe high school football team, the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee Search and Rescue Unit, the Senior Citizens Center and Safe Graduation Night for North Lake Tahoe High School.
The proceeds from this years event will be donated to "Project Graduation" for the North Lake Tahoe High School graduating class and to the art's community at North Lake Tahoe.
Friday night's Big Mack Feed is traditionally highlighted by a very unique outdoor dinner.
That dinner consists of French rolls and butter, various types of fresh fruits, tossed salads, a Mackinaw trout salad, barbecued steak, ear corn, wild game stew complete with buffalo, deer, duck, goose, pheasant, etc. and a peach dessert. And, you can go back for seconds, thirds, fourths, etc., until you are absolutely stuffed to the ears.
Be sure to mark a big red circle around August 3 on your calendar.
It's a fund raiser with a totally different twist.
