Carson City was eliminated from the Pacific Southwest Regional 13-15-year-old Babe Ruth Championships on Sunday.
Carson lost to Hawaii 10-0 and then was eliminated in a 5-3 loss to West Valley, Ariz. on Sunday in El Segundo, Calif. Carson finished 1-2 in the event after opening with a 10-0 win over Westside, Utah.
Against Hawaii, Carson trailed just 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, when Hawaii took advantage of a number of walks and three hits to score seven runs.
"We just had a bad sixth inning," Carson coach Dan Leck said.
Against West Valley, Mike Handley was the losing pitcher, going 3 1/3 innings.
"He pitched really well," Leck said. "It was little mistakes that we kind of made that made the difference in the game."
Scott DeFriez, who came in to pitch in relief, and Eric Melendez each had three hits and Handley added a double for Carson.
