Those Nevada hunters, who were lucky enough to draw hard-to-get, 2001 big game tags, will be eagerly anticipating the opening of a number of different hunting seasons this weekend and the following weekend.
Here are the dates for those seasons:
-- Saturday - Opening day of the "any legal weapon" California bighorn sheep hunting season for management area Nos. 032-Early and 051-Early. This season will close on Sept. 2.
-- Saturday - Opening day of the archery antlered mule deer hunting season for all open management areas, with the exception of Nos. 081, 201, 202 and 204-206. This season will close on Sept. 7.
-- Aug. 18 - Opening day of the "any legal weapon" pronghorn antelope hunting season for management area No. 033-Early. This season will close on Aug. 24.
-- Aug. 18 - Opening day of the archery antlered elk hunting season for management area Nos. 061, 071, 075, 077, 081, 104, 105, 131 and 262. This season will close on Sept. 16.
-- Aug. 18 - Opening day of the archery antlered elk hunting season for management area No. 161-164-Early. This season will close on Sept. 9.
-- Aug. 18 - Opening day of the archery antlered elk hunting season for management area Nos. 072 and 231. This season will close on Sept. 14.
