A celebration of life for Elsa M. Passow, 86, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of Sam and Sheila Ward, 217 N. Iris St.
Mrs. Passow died Aug. 12, 2001. She was born Aug. 2, 1915, in Plymouth, Calif. to Henry and Bertha Nagel who immigrated from Halle, Germany in 1910.
Mrs. Passow and her brothers and sister were orphaned in 1921 and relocated from Jackson, Calif., to live with relatives in Yerington. She was 12 years old when she was adopted by Nels C. and Anna S. Johnson, who operated the hotel at Wabuska.
In 1935, she married and lived in Carson City. Divorced in 1947, she lived in San Francisco, Sacramento and Las Vegas, moving back to Carson City in 1969.
Among her survivors are her brother and sister-in-law Rudy and Arlyene Nagel of Santa Clara, Calif.; nephew John Sherwood of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughters Mariannee Hawkes and Vernalee Correa, both of Bellevue, Wash. and Sheila Ward of Carson City; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
