The Carson Valley Eclipse 16 and under softball team went 2-1-1 in a tournament at Incline Village.
The Eclipse opened with a 7-1 win over the Modesto Storm. Katie Pagen pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven through five innings. Tasha McCann went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs, Ashley Hartley was 2-for-3 with a double, Stevie Smith had a hit and three RBIs and Pagen and Ashley Coleman had a hit for Carson Valley.
Carson Valley then tied the San Jose Inferno 1-1. Smith pitched four innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. Pagen pitched the final inning, allowing one hit.
Pagen went 2-for-2 with a double and Hartley, Smith and Lacy Taylor all added hits.
Carson Valley finished pool play with a 3-1 win over San Jose Inferno II. Katie Pagen came into pitch in the bottom of the first inning after the Inferno had scored and didn't allow a hit through four innings. Smith pitched the final inning, allowing one hit.
McCann went 3-for-3 with a double, Coleman had a hit and two RBIs and Stephanie Evans and Taylor each added a hit.
In the single elimination championship round, Carson Valley lost to the Reno Lightning 8-0. Kristi Olson retired all three hitters she faced in the fifth for the Eclipse.
McCann doubled, Coleman went 2-for-3 and Taylor went 1-for-1 for the Eclipse, which finished the summer at 14-14-3.
The Eclipse will play several tournaments in the fall through October, beginning Saturday and Sunday with a tournament in South Lake Tahoe.
