Five-person teams representing El Macero Golf Club and Tahoe City Golf Club recently qualified for the Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals to be held Oct. 3-7 at Disney World.
They qualified in the Oldsmobile Scramble Sectional Championship in which 20 teams participated at Dayton Valley Country Club. The teams consisted of one PGA club professional and four amateurs.
Ken Mayberry's El Macero Golf Club carded a 15-under 57. The team beat two other teams in a playoff to win the gross division title.
In the net division, Mark Landry's Tahoe City Golf Club carded a 19-under 53 to win by three strokes and qualify for the National Finals. Five other teams finished in a tie for second at 16-under 56.
El Macero Golf Club and Tahoe City Golf Club will compete against 258 other teams in the National Finals. Teams will compete for a purse of $285,000 (cash for PGA professionals, gift certificates for amateurs.
