A memorial service for Clyde William "Bill" Forney, 66, a Carson City resident for the past 11 years, was held Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Carson City with the Rev. Dr. Rob Jennings-Teats officiating.
Mr. Forney died Dec. 12, 2001. He was born July 18, 1935, in Pomona, Calif.
He spent most of his life in the Los Angeles area before moving to Carson City.
He married Doris Jean Stephan on Feb. 25, 1956, in Los Angeles.
Mr. Forney was the communications manager for the Los Angeles International Airport and at the time of his retirement he had worked for Pacific Bell for 39 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Carson City and served on the board of directors for the church athletic association of Los Angeles for 30 years and was president for five years.
He served on the board of trustees for the University of LaVerne for four years and the Church of the Brethren and Camp LaVerne Board. He loved golf, fishing, hiking, woodworking and working in his garden.
Among his survivors are his wife Doris Jean of Carson City; daughter Cynthia Forney of Sun Valley and daughter and son-in-law Gayle and Roy Neese of Billings, Mont.; brother Harold of Carlsbad, Calif., and grandchildren Paul and Christy Neese of Billings.
Burial was at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
