Pauline L. Rea, 97, a Carson City resident and former Topaz Ranch Estates resident, died Dec. 14, 2001, at Barton Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1904, in New Plymouth, Idaho, to Willard and Beatrice Langley Detrick.

She graduated from New Plymouth High School in Idaho in 1920.

Mrs. Rea was a secretary for the Youth Authority for the State of California for 20 years, retiring in 1964. She enjoyed traveling, her cats, reading and walking.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. in 1989.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Vernon O. and Cynthia Brown of Gardnerville; brother Gene L. Detrick of Pahrump; grandchildren Lucinda, Regina, Sabrina and Trisha; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
