A pregnant woman hit in Carson City on Tuesday while crossing Carson Street is still critical and the condition of her fetus is unknown.
Xochite Alvarez, 24, has been in the Intensive Care Unit of Washoe Medical Center since she was struck while walking in a crosswalk Tuesday afternoon. The 17-year-old boy who hit her was cited for suspicion of failing to yield.
Judy Davis, spokesperson for Washoe Medical Center, said the fetus is alive, but its condition cannot be determined.
At the scene of the accident, in front of the Ormsby House, Alvarez was bleeding from the head. She was hit in the southbound slow lane.
