The Sierra District of the California State Park System is offering the sixth annual California Trail Days on Saturday and Sunday at Donner Memorial State Park.
The park is on the east side of Donner Lake, about two miles west of Truckee, Calif.
Meet folks re-creating life on the emigrant trail, such as the Nichols family of Spenceville. They are direct descendants of emigrants who traveled through Donner Pass by wagon train in the 1870's.
See how it felt to ride like a pioneer in a covered wagon ride around the park.
Traditional trailside arts and crafts will be available from mountain traders.
Try your hand at rope and basket making.
The park is open from 8 a.m. until sunset, daily, with plenty of parking.
The event is free of charge to all.
