They only need a win but instead the Capitols used the 10-run rule to beat the Outlaws (0-6) Sunday to advance to the championship game against Santa Rosa.
Pitcher and game MVP Ken Heald pitched a one hit shutout and Pat Reilly went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs to lead the Caps to victory.
Danville 14, Woodward 4
The Woodward Travelers (4-2) were one win away from the championship game but they lost to the Hoots (5-1) Sunday afternoon, and were knocked out of the tournament. The Hoots would've advanced to the championship game with a Capitol's loss but the Caps defeated Ogden 10-0 to eliminate the Hoots.
The Hoots scored in every inning against the Travelers and were led by game MVP Adam Ricks. Ricks went 3-for-4, with a home run and 4 RBIs. Pitcher John Williams struck out seven hitters while only giving up six hits.
Austin 9, Santa Rosa 8
The Slam (5-1) needed a five-run victory, but could only manage a one run win over Santa Rosa (5-1), who advanced to the championship game despite a three way tie in the Grey Division.
Nathan Hemm was named the game MVP after going 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs to lead the Slam.
Santa Rosa made it to the championship after Parma (5-1) and the Slam were both eliminated due to run differential, which was used to break the three-way tie.
