Carson's Capitols finished their 2000 home schedule strong, defeating the Santa Clara Red Sox 10-5 at Carson High on Tuesday afternoon.
Capitols starting pitcher Jon Troop limited Santa Clara to four runs in five innings, striking out three and walking three. Will Quaglieri finished up the game, surrendering one run in two innings.
The Capitols bounced back from a rough start to pull within 3-2 in the bottom of the first. They added four runs in the third and one more in the fifth before Troop departed. Carson scored its final three runs in the sixth inning.
Dustin Pedroia and Brian Kleidosty both slugged solo homers for the Capitols, driving in one run apiece as each went 2-for-3.
Dan Gubbels was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while both Dustin Hahn and Joe Jacobitz had two RBIs each.
Carson still has four games left on its schedule. The Capitols play six games on the road against San Diego from Thursday to Sunday, including a doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
