The Carson Capitols return home today after a long road trip through Oregon, and their first game will be an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. tonight against the Reno Astros.
Capitols coach and former Philadelphia Phillies player Bob Ayrault will pitch a couple innings tonight against Reno. Both teams will also use wooden bats in the game, and there is no charge to fans for admission.
Carson got back to its winning ways on Tuesday night, beating Klamath Falls, Ore., 8-5. The Caps (43-9) played one 9-inning game, instead of playing the scheduled doubleheader against Klamath.
The Caps were led by Dustin Pedroia, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles. Joe Jacobitz had two RBIs, and pitchers Jon Troop and Will Quaglieri combined to strike out 10 hitters.
The Capitols struggled to a 5-4 record on their Oregon road swing.
