Carson City's Jody Carlsen earned second team all-Western Athletic Conference honors in leading the University of Nevada women's cross country team to a fifth place finish at the Western Athletic Conference Championships Saturday in Tulsa, Okla.
Carlsen crossed the finish line in a time of 18 minutes, 53 seconds to place 14th. Four other runners for Nevada placed in the top 40: Erin Seward, 18th in 19:12; Christina Smith, 25th in 19:26; Christy Gleason of Smith Valley, 38th in 20:06; and Randi Fee, 39th in 20:08.
The Wolf Pack scored 132 ponts to finish fifth as a team. The final standings were: Texas Christian, 35; Rice, 100; UTEP, 110; Hawaii, 120; Nevada, 132; Tulsa, 145; San Jose State, 154; Fresno State, 160; SMU, 203.
