The Carson-Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary met earlier this month to honor past presidents and to kick off the 2000-2001 year.

A $2,500 donation was approved for a Memorial Rose Garden at the Cancer Resource Center on Minnesota Street.

Luncheon speakers included Ed Epperson, chief operating officer for the hospital, and Kim Mason, hospitality chairwoman.

Epperson spoke about the status of affiliation at the hospital. Hospital officials are considering whether the hospital should affiliate with a larger health-care entity.

Mason presented information about the Hospitality House, which will open in November and provide a place for patients who travel a long way for surgery, or for family members who want to stay close during a loved one's hospitalization. Earlier this year the auxiliary donated $100,000 to established the Hospitality House.

The auxiliary gift shop presented a donation of $10,000 from summer sales.

The auxiliary's Fall Membership Drive is in full swing. Six new members joined during the luncheon Sept. 12. Community members are encouraged to join and share time and talents to raise funds for hospital projects, such as the Rose Garden and the Hospitality House. Those interested in joining should call 882-7437, or stop by the gift shop, which is just off the hospital lobby, to pick up a membership form.
