As it turns out, Carson won't be hosting Fallon tonight in a showdown between undefeated Northern 4A volleyball front-runners.
Wooster took care of that matter Tuesday night at home when it dealt the Senators their first loss of the conference season. The Colts won in four sets, 18-16, 15-12, 11-15, 15-8.
The loss dropped Carson to 10-1, which is still good for a one-game lead over Douglas in the Sierra League standings. Wooster improved to 5-5.
Carson is at home tonight against undefeated High Desert League leader and defending state 4A champion Fallon.
Did the Senators get caught looking ahead to Fallon. Not at all, according to coach Daryl James.
"I just think Wooster outplayed us," James said. "I think Wooster's a good and very athletic team. They dug a lot of balls and they outplayed us, big-time."
Kaitlin Leck had 19 kills, 4 blocks and five service aces for the Senators. Jennifer Saunders also contributed nine kills and four blocks, Megan Anderson eight kills and four blocks, while Rachael DeRiemer added eight kills and five blocks. Heidi Alexander had five twos and two aces and setter Ryanne Amodei handed out 43 assists.
The Senators will need to regroup quickly in order to be ready for Fallon tonight.
"We've got to play harder and we need to practice harder," James said. "We have a lot of tough matches still to come."
