An unidentified Carson City woman was injured Sunday evening at Roop St. and Highway 50 when the Ford truck she was a passenger in was struck by a gray Nissan heading east and making a left-hand turn. The victim was transported to Carson-Tahoe Hospital by ambulance complaining of neck pain. The Carson City Sheriff's Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol repsonded to the accident.
According to witness Robert Neibert, 17, who was in the lane next to the Nissan, the Nissan had a green turn signal. Another witness behind the truck said the truck was attempting to make it through a yellow light. After the accident, Neibert and his mother Marcy, pulled over to assist. "She said she could feel (the hit) to her toes," Neidert said the injured woman told him.
The driver of the Nissan, Dionicio T. Pena-Campos, of South Lake Tahoe, was in the area shopping with his friend Irene Madera and her10-month-old daughter Jacqueline Bluneart. None of the Nissan's passengers were injured.
The woman was listed in stable condition at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
