The Northern Nevada Chapter of Service Core of Retired Executives is looking for retired corporate executives or retired business owners to volunteer their services counseling people on how to start a business or to improve their business once it is operating.
A SCORE volunteer alternates working one day every other week for two hours a day, advising people in the Nevada Small Business Development Center in the College of Business Administration.
"I volunteer because I want to give something back to the community and it keeps me active, mentally," said Joe Travale, chapter chairman.
SCORE is a non-profit organization with more than 12,000 volunteers working in 380 chapters around the country.
"We rely on our volunteers heavily," said Winnie Dowling, deputy director of the Nevada Small Business Development Center. "Their experience and wisdom is an asset to our center."
Those interested in volunteering should contact Travale at 828-1743.
