New alignment for Arrowhead; paving starts on Carson Street

Starting Wednesday, there will be no left or right turns from Highway 395 onto Arrowhead Drive in north Carson City.

Frehner Construction is diverting traffic on and off Arrowhead via a new, paved road between Ruby Lane and Arrowhead.

While all of Arrowhead is not being closed, access from Highway 395 to Arrowhead will be via Ruby Drive and then south on the new road to Arrowhead. The diversion will be in place for nine months.

Construction crews are ready to build a Carson bypass bridge support over Arrowhead, and the support lies where Arrowhead is now. Arrowhead will be realigned under the new bridge.

Carson Street from Hot Springs Road to Stewart Street is undergoing a two-inch overlay. Ten- to 15-minute delays are expected.

Crews will work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning at Stewart Street and working north. Officials recommend taking an alternate route.

Delays up to 30 minutes are expected for northbound and southbound traffic on an 11-mile overlay project on Highway 395 from Spooner Summit Junction south into Douglas County. Crews are working during the peak hours on the project.

Northgate Lane should be open by this evening. However, construction continues on utility relocation on Broadleaf and Mina Way. Utility relocation has kept the area closed for about two months, but construction should clear the immediate area within two weeks, said John Benzing, Carson City construction manager.
