LOS ANGELES - Delta Air Lines Flight 1989 from Boston to Los Angeles made an unscheduled landing in Kentucky Sunday to remove an unruly passenger, a Delta spokesman said.
The passenger, whose name was not released, refused to follow the nine-member crew's orders and left her assigned seat for another seat, Delta spokesman Dan Lewis said. The pilot asked that she be removed from the plane.
Justin Parnagin, one of 176 passengers, told KCBS-TV in Los Angeles the disruption was caused by a woman who felt ill and moved into a first-class seat.
''She wouldn't move from the seat that she wasn't supposed to be in,'' even when the pilot warned the plane would turn around, he said.
The plane landed at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron, Ky., where it was met by police and paramedics.
The Boeing 767ER stayed at the airport about 20 minutes before it continued to Los Angeles without the woman, Lewis said. The flight arrived in Los Angeles at 12:49 p.m., about 1-hours later than scheduled.
Cincinnati airport spokesman Ted Bushelman said no arrest was made. Paramedics examined the woman and found no medical condition, he said.
